Controversial Town Council President Janet Joakim has caused many more problems than she has attempted to solve. She has fostered a culture of arrogance and reptilian attitudes towards the taxpayers of Barnstable for many years, but especially since she took the position of Town Council President. While Joakim has had months to re-affirm her commitment to her constituents and address the charges of the recall, she has chosen instead to attack the recall organizers on deeply personal levels.

Joakim's modus operandi of intimidation and retaliation against those who criticize her views or actions on the council are infamous in the Town of Barnstable. After years of trying to establish effective communication between the taxpayers and the town council, citizen activists had no choice but to exercise their rights according to the town charter and recall this abusive councilor.

While her abuse of power has hurt residents all over the Town of Barnstable, Massachusetts, only voters (about 2500) in Joakim's precinct in the Centerville Heights area of Barnstable may act to recall her. All residents of Precinct SIX are encouraged to vote YES to recall abusive and out of control Barnstable Councilor Janet Joakim.

Janet Joakim Is Confronted For Abuse Of Power

Another local activist managed to criticize Janet Joakim without being hauled off the dias by the Barnstable Police. It took five petitions and several hundred signatures to get Joakim's recall scheduled. While the council did everything in their power to make the scheduling of the recall election as confusing as possible for the voters, the recall has been scheduled at Marstons Mills East Elementary School on Osterville W. Barnstable Road in Marstons Mills from 7AM to 8PM on October 30, 2008.

Janet Joakim Uses Police To Silence Activist

A speaker at public comment during a Barnstable Town Council Meeting was escorted from the dias by the Barnstable Chief of Police and another officer for criticizing Town Council President Janet Joakim for her abuse of power by preventing a resident from mentioning the hateful comments Council President Joakim made about a six year old child on her abusive blog, sevenvillagesblog.com, which is linked to the Town of Barnstable website.

JANET JOAKIM'S HATE MONGERS CAUGHT ON TAPE

The apes in the video are Ronald and Christine Howell, people held up as victims in a political war of words and images in the Barnstable Blogosphere. Janet Joakim is facing a recall on issues of lying to her constituents to get elected, and her role in destroying the town's well established and respected zoning board of appeals.

Rather than address these issues, Joakim used tactics of hatred and intimidation and incited others as those in the video to engage in acts of harassment and violence to draw attention away from her dirty deeds on the town council. The people in the video were given page after page on Joakim's sevenvillagesblog to post hateful and libelous comments for several months before they were finally removed at the advice of town attorneys.
